A Redesign for Google’s Mobile Friendly Requirement for 2015
I’ve been working with John Spencer Ellis, founder of National Exercise & Sports Trainers Association (NESTA), since 2013. Thanks to the Google algorithm released last April it prompted John to request retooling a few of his sites, including the SpencerInstitute.com to be mobile responsive. It also was an opportunity to add a some redesign too.
Enter the Genesis Framework for WordPress by StudioPress
For this project I used the Genesis Framework by Studio Press along with the Epik premium child theme. Of course the logo and color palette was leveraged to maintain continuity with his audience. But the site has been brightened and spacial relationships have been increased. I really like the Epik child theme by Appfinite because it offers lots of well planned widgetized areas already built in. This allows me to insert content at-will. The redesign wasn’t the end of the story—we also implemented OptIn Monster and not only were we rewarded by Google with traffic because of the new look John also enjoyed a jump in his lead generation. I was a tad nervous about the unveiling this redesign but John was very pleased with this refreshed look.
